Terang is a town located in the western district of Victoria, Australia. It is situated approximately 215 kilometers southwest of Melbourne and 35 kilometers northeast of Warrnambool.
The town has a population of around 2,000 people and is known for its agricultural industry, particularly dairy farming. The area surrounding Terang is highly productive due to its rich volcanic soil, and crops such as potatoes, wheat, and canola are also grown here.
Terang has several amenities for residents and visitors, including a supermarket, post office, library, and a range of shops and cafes. The town also boasts a number of sporting facilities, including a football oval, cricket pitch, and a golf course.
One of the town's most noteworthy attractions is the Terang and District Co-operative Society Limited, which was established in 1888 and is one of the oldest continuously operating co-operatives in Australia. The co-op has a supermarket, hardware store, and fuel station, among other services.
Terang is also home to a number of historic buildings, including the Terang Butter Factory, which was built in 1909 and operated as a butter-making facility until 1975. Today, it is a popular venue for weddings, events, and functions.
